Income Tax

It’s Monday again.

I was just finish talking with customer support for Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) regarding the income tax form. They were introducing this new system which they called e-filing. This is the first time they will be using a fully online system for tax payers. Last year they did introduce another system which they call e-filling (guess that they are not creative enough, they just remove one ‘L’ to distinguish it from the old system)

Actually I can do it manually, but since I think it is more convenient to do it online, why don’t.

I’ve to download a digital certificate to complete the e-filing system and its something new for me. I have no idea we are capable of doing this. Well, the cert is valid for three years but not the computer. So I have to back-up it since they advice me to back-up it for future purposes. But, I don’t know how. So I called the customer service and asked for their guidance. And I am being very polite since I heard so many comments and stories about stupid and inconsiderate customers who called for customer service.

It’s so hard to talk ask about something through phone, especially when involving computers and software. And I do feel the same this morning, when she (the customer service) gave the wrong instruction to me on how to back-up my cert. But to think it again, she knows the system pretty well so I think it might be of language different, I am used to English version software or helpfile and when she talked about it in malay, I got really scrambled. Imagine when you were tell to open the internet explorer in malay, “ sila tekan butang pelayar internet” at first it might be alien talking to you. But after a while, I eventually get used to all the terms used.

And after ½ hour I think, chatting and following instruction. I finally managed to back-up my cert. Thanks to the customer service in LHDN.
